BOULDER, Colo. (CBS, KYMA) - A police dog in Colorado got to take a break from her job and enjoy a whole lot of tennis balls to celebrate her fifth birthday.

The Boulder Police Department (BPD) wished K-9 explosives detection officer Astro a happy birthday in a post on X, alongside a video showing the dog running around after a veritable explosion of tennis balls.

In the footage, Astro wore a pink birthday hat and a bandanna around her neck.

"When ball is life, what could be better than this?!" BPD wrote. "It's not every day you turn 5 years old! Please join us in wishing our explosives detection and community engagement K9 Astro a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"
