Two dozen train cars derailed in South Carolina

LAURENS COUNTY, S.C. (NBC, KYMA) - Nearly two dozen train cars derailed in Laurens County Monday morning, emergency crews are on the scene.

Crews say no hazardous materials were involved but traffic is being impacted.

Laurens County officials tell us that 21 cars on the CSX rail line have derailed. The incident happened near the lower train trestle that crosses Lake Greenwood.

DNR has officers in the water to keep boaters away from the trestle. At this time, it has been reported that no one has been hurt.

CSX has crews on the scene clearing up and repairing the track.
