FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: Tracking extended Extreme Heat Warnings

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Extreme Heat Warnings across the region have been extended through Wednesday evening.

The warnings were originally set to expire Monday evening, but we're tracking continued temperatures well into the triple-digits. Along with high dew points adding humidity into the mix of hot conditions.

On Sunday, the high temperature in Yuma is tracking to reach 110°F. While Imperial is expected to be a bit cooler today, sitting around the 105°F mark. Both cities are expecting high dew points as well on Sunday, sitting in the 65-69 degree range.

Into Monday, both cities are tracking to heat up. With Yuma reaching 112°F and Imperial expected to hit 114°F. Temperatures are expected to remain similar through Wednesday. During the end of the work week and into next weekend, we're tracking a slight increase in temps.

Back to that humidity, we're tracking humid to tropical conditions to end the weekend and into the start of our work week. Tracking dew points in the 64-72 degree range through Thursday afternoon.

Imperial County has a 20% chance to see some precipitation and thunderstorms on Sunday. In Yuma County on Saturday evening into early Sunday morning, we saw some cloud cover that brought sporadic thunderstorms.

Monday is tracking to be a clear day, with little cloud cover in the skies. Into Tuesday early morning around 3:30 a.m., we're tracking clouds to move back into the region. Into the afternoon hours around 3:00 p.m., we could see some showers throughout the region as well.

As for our wind gusts, we're tracking calmer mornings and afternoons and gustier evenings over the next three days. Wind gust speeds during our evenings are expected to top out in the 20-26 miles per hour range.

With the extended Extreme Heat Warnings, be sure to be practicing those heat safety tips as we head back into our work week. Plenty of water for hydration and making sure to wear lightweight clothing to avoid overheating.
