COVID-19 cases after Fourth of July weekend go up

MGN

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The Imperial County Public Health is reporting an increase in COVID-19 cases, this after Fourth of July COVID-19 numbers are coming in.

Vo Medical Center is also seeing firsthand an increase in positivity rate. Dr. Tien Vo says today ten residents tested positive for COVID-19 at his El Centro location and 22 in Calexico.

While Dr. Vo says those tests were rapid tests, the community should still be careful.

"After July fourth the test volume has been about 1200 per day, the positivity rate is high, 30%," he said.

News 11's Wiley Jawhary will have more on why this time around the community is not getting hit as hard even though numbers are going up.
