New Chaplain Joins Marine Corps Air Station Yuma

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Marine Corps Air Station Yuma has welcomed a new chaplain who will provide spiritual support and counseling to Marines, Sailors, military families and civilian employees.

Commander Pon Chanthaphon, a Florida native, has served as a Navy chaplain for more than 17 years. In his new role at MCAS Yuma, Chanthaphon will provide confidential counseling, spiritual guidance and religious ministry to personnel on the base.

Chanthaphon says his role is focused on supporting the whole person.

“Being a chaplain is about caring for people, for the whole person,” Chanthaphon said. “Whether through counseling, spiritual guidance or simply being there to listen, I’m here to support the Marines, Sailors and families, and our civilian employees of MCAS Yuma.”

MCAS Yuma says Marines, Sailors and civilian employees all play an important role in supporting the station’s mission.
