Rescued mountain lion cub demolishes St. Patrick’s Day shamrock
(CBS, KYMA/KECY) - A rescued mountain lion cub celebrated St Patrick's Day at California's Oakland Zoo with some "seriously seasonal shenanigans" Monday, ripping into a shamrock toy made for him by keepers, the zoo said.
The "ever-growing" cub, named Briar, was rescued by the Oakland Zoo in August 2024, and has been slowly acclimating to the institution's California Trail habitat.
The zoo said keepers are now giving Briar time in the roomy mountain lion habitat so he can romp, climb trees, and be viewed by visitors, although he is still separated from the resident adult mountain lions.
"Guests may see Briar on these habitat days…how’s that for good luck?" the zoo said.
