Holtville prepares to crown its new Carrot Queen

HOLTVILLE, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The City of Holtville is getting ready to crown its 77th Carrot Queen and Princess.

At least 10 girls are competing to become this year's Carrot Queen.

Last year's royalty and the 76th Carrot Queen said she is excited to hand over her crown and shared what she will miss from her experience.

"Parades… Representing Holtville, in Calexico, Brawley, and even representing the Chamber Regional Level in the summer. It’s definitely an experience," said Samantha Castaneda, 76th Carrot Queen.

The first Holtville Carrot Queen Charlotte Johnston passed away. She was in her 90s.

The annual coronation banquet is on Friday, February 2, at the IV Swiss Club located on Worthington Road and Holt Road starting at 6 p.m.
