Contest will be at the park located at 201 N. 4th Avenue

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Colorado River State Historic Park will be hosting its Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest on Saturday, January 13 at 9:30 a.m.

This event is free, fun, and family-friendly and is open to everyone of all ages.

Participants will receive a free box of chalk and decorate a square of the park's sidewalk.

Registration will be from 9:30-10 a.m., drawing time will be from 10-11 a.m., judging will be from 11-11:30 a.m., and winners will be chosen at 11:30 a.m.

“The City of Yuma is hosting their annual Art in the Park at Gateway Park, right next to our historic museum, and we thought this would be a great way to support the art festivities and encourage even more folks to come and celebrate Yuma’s art community with both events,” said Tammy Snook, Park Manager of the Colorado River State Historic Park.

The event will be at the park and entry will be free for all participants and spectators until 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13 when regular park entrance fees will resume.

“Several local artists have kindly agreed to judge the contest and first, second, and third place ribbons will be awarded to the winners of each age category,” said Snook.
