YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Out in the Foothills, Veterans and organizations gathered for a special event.

“It's vendors in the community and veteran-owned businesses supporting us in the Veterans Entertainment Talent show.”

For further context, one of those veteran-owned organizations is Companion Home Care, run by veteran Joseph Ramirez.

“We focus on finding funding options for veterans and focus on promoting care at home for our senior veteran community,” Ramirez said.

One of the veterans in their care is Robert Stevwing, who was at the event selling his wood carvings.

“Well they’re helping me with my home care. And they’re helping me sell my wood so I can buy more wood,” Stevwing said.

“But it really makes me feel good when I see someone smile.”

Thanks for the turtle, Robert!

Also at the event was the Ukuholics, a local group of Ukelele players.

They played God Bless America and Sweet Caroline, among other classic hits.

“I like to see the smiling faces. If I can put a smile on someone’s face, its been a good day,” Sharon Smith said.
