Bay Area high school football team run plays to help broadcast crews ahead of Super Bowl LX
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (NBC, KYMA) - For millions, the best seat for the Super Bowl will be in front of the TV.
That's why NBC Sports crews needs to make sure everything is just right.
On Friday, they recruited a Bay Area high school team to stand-in for the pros and run plays on the field.
It was the experience of a lifetime for the Spartans of De La Salle High School.
They took the field at Levi's Stadium to help ensure the NBC cameras are in the right position for Sunday's broadcast.
"What we're trying to do today is dial in the precision of our telecast. So making sure the framing on every single camera is what we want them to be.
That the replay rolls have the proper in, have the proper out. So we're really trying to get precision and take out a lot of the guesswork that we possibly can."
Fred Gaudelli, NFL Executive Producer for NBC
De La Salle is not new to the bright lights of football, being one of the top high school teams in the nation for years, but this moment was extra special for the Spartans.
"This is a crazy experience, like, it's cool to see how production works and everything. You get to meet hella cool people and it's like the biggest field at the...where the biggest game of football is going to be played. It's really dope," said T.J. Finau, a football player.
"Great experience you know being on the field before the game. It's great. With all my friends. It's great," said Dez Spencer, another football player.
