Aaron Donald comes out of retirement, returns to Rams on $20 million deal

LOS ANGELES (KYMA) - NFL superstar Aaron Donald is coming out of retirement and returning to the Los Angeles Rams.

The three-time Defensive Player of the Year has agreed to a one-year contract worth $20 million, with playoff incentives that could raise the total value to $30 million.

Donald, now 35-years-old, retired in March 2024 after 10 seasons in the NFL, but said he has spent the last 13 to 14 weeks training and testing his body to determine whether he could return to the field.

His decision was helped by the Rams' acquisition of defensive superstar Myles Garrett, giving Donald the opportunity to line up alongside one of the league's premier pass rushers.

Donald finished his career with 111 sacks in 154 games. He is also an eight-time first-team All-Pro, a 10-time Pro Bowl selection and the 2014 Defensive Rookie of the Year.

His final NFL season came in 2023, when he recorded 53 total tackles and eight sacks in 16 games.

After missing the last two seasons, Donald is now back with Los Angeles as the Rams look to make another run at the Super Bowl.

With Donald and Garrett on the same defensive line, the Rams could have one of the most dominant defensive fronts in NFL history.
