ARLINGTON, Texas (KYMA) - The San Diego Padres bounced back from Friday's disappointing loss with a 6-3 extra-inning victory over the Texas Rangers on Saturday at Globe Life Field.

After surrendering an early 5-0 lead in a 9-7 loss the night before, the Padres responded behind a standout performance from Manny Machado, who drove in five runs and delivered the game-deciding swing in the 10th inning.

Machado got San Diego on the board first in the top of the third inning, lacing an RBI double to give the Padres a 1-0 lead. The Padres maintained that advantage behind a strong outing from starting pitcher Walker Buehler, who struck out seven batters over 5 1/3 innings.

Texas finally broke through in the sixth inning when Wyatt Langford doubled home a run to tie the game at 1-1.

The Rangers took their first lead of the afternoon in the seventh inning. Jake Burger launched a two-run home run, his 13th of the season, to put Texas ahead 3-1.

San Diego answered in the eighth. Machado drove in a run on a fielder’s choice to cut the deficit to one before Jackson Merrill delivered an RBI single later in the inning to tie the game at 3-3 and force extra innings.

With the automatic runner aboard in the 10th inning and another runner reaching on a walk, Machado stepped to the plate and delivered the biggest swing of the game. The Padres third baseman crushed a three-run home run to give San Diego a 6-3 lead and cap off a five-RBI performance.

Mason Miller, who returned to action after missing the past week due to a family emergency, closed out the game and earned his 20th save of the season.

The victory evens the series between the Padres and Rangers at one game apiece. San Diego will look to secure the series win in Sunday afternoon's finale.
