Stoudemire, Johnson and D’Antoni named finalist for Naismith Hall of Fame
Three Phoenix Suns icons are one step closer to enshrinement in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame
PHOENIX (KYMA) - Amar'e Stoudemire, Kevin Johnson and former head coach Mike D'Antoni were named finalists for the Hall of Fame's upcoming class, bringing renewed attention to a transformative era of Suns basketball.
Stoudemire, the 2003 NBA Rookie of the Year, developed into one of the league's premier forwards during his time in Phoenix.
A five-time All-Star and five-time All-NBA selection, he helped lead the Suns to five playoff appearances. Stoudemire ranks among the franchise's top seven in points, rebounds and blocks and was inducted into the Suns' Ring of Honor in 2024.
Johnson, a three-time All-Star and four-time All-NBA second-team selection, guided Phoenix to the playoffs in every full season he played with the team.
He remains second in franchise history in assists, fourth in points and sixth in games played. Johnson was inducted into the Suns' Ring of Honor in 2001.
D'Antoni, the architect of the Suns' high-powered "Seven Seconds or Less" offense, won two NBA Coach of the Year awards during his tenure in Phoenix.
He led the team to four playoff appearances, including back-to-back trips to the Western Conference finals.
The finalists now await the final vote, with the Hall of Fame class scheduled to be announced April 4 during the Final Four.
