SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. (KYMA) - Wyndham Clark completed a dominant performance at the 2026 U.S. Open on Sunday, holding off a late charge from Sam Burns to win his second career U.S. Open title at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York.

Clark entered the final round with a commanding six-shot lead and never relinquished control, becoming the first player to lead after every round and win the championship since Martin Kaymer accomplished the feat in 2014.

Burns made things interesting during the final round, trimming Clark's advantage with a strong start on the front nine. The 29-year-old drained birdie putts on both the fifth and sixth holes to climb to three-under par and move within striking distance of the lead.

As the pressure mounted on the back nine, Burns had a golden opportunity at the par-4 16th hole to pull even with Clark. However, his birdie attempt narrowly missed the cup, leaving him one shot back and unable to capitalize on his momentum.

Clark remained steady throughout the afternoon. A key par putt on the fourth hole helped maintain his cushion, and he continued to avoid major mistakes as the challenging Shinnecock Hills layout and windy weather tested the field.

With the tournament in his grasp, Clark calmly tapped in on the 18th green to secure the victory. The win marks his second U.S. Open championship after previously capturing the title in 2023.

Following the final putt, Clark celebrated with his father, creating a memorable moment on Father's Day as he hoisted the championship trophy. In addition to the title, Clark earned the winner's share of the purse, taking home approximately $4.5 million.

The victory further solidifies Clark's place among golf's elite, adding another major championship to a career that continues to trend upward on the PGA Tour.
