Imperial sweeps Cibola in three-set volleyball victory

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Imperial Tigers got back in the win column Tuesday night, sweeping the Cibola Raiders in three sets at Raider Gym.

Imperial controlled the first two sets, taking the second 25-19 after building a late 21-18 lead.

The Tigers carried that momentum into the third set, with Carol Magdaleno recording one of her six aces to give Imperial an early 6-4 advantage.

Cibola tried to keep the set close, including a strong spike from Faith Escalante, but the Raiders could not complete the comeback.

Imperial closed out the sweep behind contributions from players such as Aryelle Lopez, who finished with five kills.

The Tigers improved to 14-8 and will travel to Brawley on Wednesday to open league play.

Cibola dropped to 2-10 and will return to action next week against Vincent Memorial.
