Yuma area baseball heating up

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - High school baseball is rolling across Yuma County, and right now, it's the San Luis Sidewinders setting the pace in the 6A Desert Southwest Region.

San Luis sits atop the standings with a perfect 4-0 region record and a 14-7-1 mark overall, giving them early control in the race.

Right behind them is Kofa Kings at 2-2 in region play, while Gila Ridge Hawks continue to battle at 1-3.

Meanwhile, over in the 3a division, it’s been complete dominance from Yuma Catholic Shamrocks.

Yuma Catholic remains unbeaten in region play at 7-0, outscoring opponents 77 to 9, and carrying a 15-4 overall record.

The Shamrocks are currently riding a six-game winning streak and have been one of the most consistent teams in the area so far this season.

In the 4A Black Canyon Region, Yuma Criminals are also off to a strong start, sitting at 7-0 in region play with a 12-7-2 overall record.

As the season continues, San Luis and Yuma Catholic remain the teams to watch, both holding firm at the top of their respective regions with momentum building deeper into the schedule.
