Gila Ridge extends win streak against Kofa in rout

The Hawks won their sixth straight in blowout fashion, beating the Kings 63-6 on Thursday night

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Gila Ridge Hawks throttled the Kofa Kings 63-6, winning their sixth straight Thursday night at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The Hawks wasted no time cracking the scoreboard, scoring a touchdown within a minute-and-a-half into the game.

From there on out, it was all the Ridge. They were able to score and move the ball at will on offensive, and forced turnovers on the defensive side of the rock as well.

Gage Hanson had one of the best plays of the prep football season so far, climbing the ladder for a one-handed interception.

Later, the Hawks forced a strip-sack fumble in the first half too.

Part of the reason they were able to find success is because of the talent throughout the roster. Even with Gabriel Cota and Kanai Hongo out, the offensive was rolling, and as Coach Jessica Slaughter said in a pregame interview, the defense is strong as well.

Kofa now falls a game below .500 and will face another tough opponent in Desert Sunrise next Thursday.

Meanwhile, Gila Ridge continues region play at Somerton next Friday.
