Yuma struggles offensively against Carl Hayden amid 9/11 tribute and injury bug

Criminals get trounced 40-2 by Falcons and remain searching for their first win of the season

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Yuma High School struggled to generate offense tonight against Carl Hayden Community High School in their 40-2 loss at Curley Culp Memorial Stadium while they paid tribute to the 9/11 tragedy and dealt with injuries.

Yuma welcomed skydiver Jay Stokes, who delivered the patriotic 9/11 tribute, consisting of delivering the game ball at midfield.

This dive marked the fourth time the retired U.S. Army Special Forces Green Beret made the jump for a Yuma Union High School District football game.

As the tribute happened before kickoff, the Criminals were in a poor position pre game too.

Yuma High was missing their first and second string quarterbacks to injury, while other key players were out for various reasons.

As a result, the Falcons had it their way throughout the game. They were able to move the ball consistently, running on the outside for massive chunk plays.

The Criminal's only points came from a safety, as they fell 40-2.

Yuma remains winless while Carl Hayden earned their first victory of the season.

Next week, the Criminals will travel to the Imperial Valley to face Calipatria.
