Phoenix Suns open new season with revamped roster

AZ Central

PHOENIX, Ariz. (KYMA) - The NBA season is officially underway, and the Phoenix Suns are preparing to begin their campaign Wednesday night with a road matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Phoenix enters the 2026-27 season with several notable roster changes as the franchise looks to build on last year’s postseason appearance. The Suns finished the 2025-26 regular season with a 45-37 record, earning a spot in the Western Conference playoffs before falling to the Oklahoma City Thunder in a four-game first-round sweep.

One of the biggest offseason moves was the acquisition of forward Miles Bridges from the Charlotte Hornets. Phoenix received Bridges and a 2027 second-round draft pick in exchange for Grayson Allen, Royce O’Neale and a 2033 first-round pick.

Bridges averaged 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game last season. The 28-year-old gives the Suns another scoring option while adding size and versatility to their frontcourt.

Phoenix also signed veteran guard Luke Kennard to strengthen its perimeter shooting. Kennard has connected on 44.2% of his three-point attempts over his nine-year NBA career, giving the Suns a proven outside threat as they look to improve their offensive production.

The team added another intriguing piece through the draft, acquiring forward Koa Peat, a Gilbert, Arizona, native who played at the University of Arizona.

With the season getting underway, Phoenix will look to build on last year’s return to the playoffs and make another push in the Western Conference. The Suns begin that journey on the road against Portland before continuing their 2026-27 campaign.
