Arizona Western men’s basketball earns national academic accolades

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Arizona Western College men's basketball program has earned national recognition for its success in the classroom, receiving a 2025-26 National Association of Basketball Coaches Team Academic Excellence Award.

The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize men's basketball programs that complete the academic year with a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

The awards are presented annually to teams and student-athletes across all levels of college basketball and celebrate achievement in the classroom alongside success on the court.

For the first time in recent memory, the Matadors earned the distinction after posting a team GPA of 3.273 during the spring semester.

The NABC recently announced the recipients of its 2025-26 Team Academic Excellence Awards and Honors Court selections, which recognize both programs and individual players for their academic accomplishments.
