Yuma native competing in national swim competition

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma Catholic's own Ryan Webb is making waves in the world of swimming by qualifying for the USA Futures Championship in Justin, Texas.

Webb, still just a rising sophomore, competes for the year round swim team, the Yuma Heat. With the program, she has qualified for four events at the futures championship including the 50 free, 50 back, 100 free and 100 back.

The championship event is a major step forward for swimmers looking to qualify for Junior Nationals and the US Olympic Trials.

Despite the feat being extremely impressive, Ryan is quick to acknowledge that she did not get to this point by herself.

"My coach and teammates gave me the stuff I needed, and my parents, they've fully supported me," the athlete said. "Hopefully, this is just the beginning for Yuma. Hopefully next year we'll have more swimmers who make Futures."

The Futures Championship is happening July 23-26.
