Gila Ridge girls basketball defeats West Point 53-26 in Hawks’ home opener

The Hawks used a dominant second half to pull away from the Dragons, getting to a record of 1-1 on the season - 13 On Your Side's Luis Lopez reports

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Gila Ridge girls basketball defeated the West Point Dragons 53-26 at home on Thursday night to get to a record of 1-1 on the season.

After a slow first half which only saw a total of 22 points scored by both teams, the Hawks had an offensive explosion in the second half.

Gila Ridge would score 41 points to pull away from the Dragons and come away with the win in their home opener.

Among the top contributors for the Hawks was Junior Bella DeCorse, who dropped 22 points, with 13 coming from free throws.

The Hawks will next be in action when they take on the Carl Hayden Falcons on Friday Dec 1.
