Cibola and Kofa swim teams share excitement for upcoming season during swim meet

Both Cibola and Kofa's swim squads shared what they're looking forward to as the 2022 season kicks off - 13 On Your Side's Luis Lopez reports

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Cibola and Kofa met Thursday night at the Valley Aquatics center.

The meet was the first of the year for Cibola, and the second meet of the year for the Kings.

Both coaches were excited to get the year underway.

Especially first year Kofa head coach Bill Packham

"For me as the new coach at Kofa, I'm really excited for the kids out here and to teach them and to help them to learn how to swim and get excited for it, you know we've got a lot of new kids like I said and they're all excited to be on the team a lot of them wish they had started sooner so hopefully that helps out with recruiting for next year, get some more kids on the team," Packham said.

Cibola Raiders head coach Mark Dusek was simply happy to get a meet in, as he said weather caused issues for his squad last year.

"We're very excited we've had a lot of issues with the weather it's kind of keeping us out of the pool for swim meets and what not but we're very excited we're having a good weather day today and so we're looking forward to it the kids are excited," Dusek said.

Cibola's next meet will come on Sept 22 against Lake Havasu and Yuma.

While Kofa will next take to the water again on Sept 15 against Yuma and San Luis.
