New coaching era for Kofa football

Alfonzo Brown announced as Kings new head coach

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A new coaching era begins for Kofa Kings football.

Alfonzo Brown takes over as the program's new head coach, only a few months after the resignation of previous coach Karl Pope.

Kofa High School made the official announcement on Thursday night, after the conclusion of the Yuma Union High School District Governing Board meeting.

Brown has served in the Gila Ridge Hawks football program for the past several years, as an assistant varsity coach and in the head coaching role for the Freshman team.

He will have the daunting challenge of turning around Kofa's losing culture, as the King's varsity team hasn't had a single victory on the field since October of 2017.
