Wildcats win latest elimination game in extra innings

BRAWLEY, Calif., (KYMA, KECY) - If you want to pick an adjective to describe the Brawley Wildcats softball team, try the word "resilient."

The Cats would prove that on Tuesday night's 3rd round elimination game of the CIF-San Diego Section Division 1 Tournament against the Ramona Bulldogs.

In the top of the 2nd inning, Brawley starting pitcher Dylann Baker got in trouble, allowing A bases loaded situation with 2 outs.

A swing of the bat later, the Cats found themselves in a 4-0 hole, as Courtney Powers hit a grand slam at Brawley's expense.

Since then, Baker and the Cats defense locked down the rest of the way; not giving up another run.

The offense started showing life in the bottom of the 4th, as Mikalyn Emanuelli hit a clutch 2-out base hit, that allowed 2 runs to score.

This much-needed play cut the Cats deficit in half.

Brawley would later add a couple more runs to tie it at 4.

This score would hold up into extra innings.

The drama would come to a climax in the bottom of the 11th, as Dylan Gil knocked in the last RBI to give Brawley the come from behind 5-4 win.

The victory allows the Cats to stay alive and advance to the Division 1 Semifinal Round.

The Cats will have a quick turnaround, as they take on 2nd seeded San Marcos on the road tomorrow afternoon.
