Holtville advances past 1st round

Vikings boys basketball eliminates El Cajon Valley

HOLTVILLE, Calif., (KYMA, KECY) - After the dust has cleared for a most unusual season played in the Spring due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, Holtville boys basketball lands a high seed in the CIF-San Diego Section Division 4 Playoffs.

The 3rd seeded Vikings would draw El Cajon Valley at home in the 1st round on Tuesday night.

The 1st half would prove to be competitive between the 2 programs, as the Vikes could only muster a 8 point advantage halfway through the contest.

But Angel Perez, Jonathan Heraz and Abraham Ramos would make key plays in the 3rd quarter to help Holtville take over the contest for good.

The Vikes would take the 69-45 win and advance to the 2nd round, as they play host to 6th seeded Escondido Charter this coming Friday night.
