Kofa softball edges San Luis

April 30th, 2021

YUMA, Ariz., (KYMA, KECY) - In the 3-game season series between the San Luis Sidewinders and Kofa Lady Kings softball programs, the best was saved for last.

In primetime, both teams would pull out all the stops in an effort to get a late season victory.

In the 1st inning, Kofa's Mariely Burruel hit a triple and would score in the same inning to give the Lady Kings the 1-0 lead.

San Luis would then storm back and put 3 runs on the board that would give the Sidewinders a 3-1 advantage after 3 innings.

The Lady Kings would then score 7 consecutive runs to blow the game open to a 8-3 advantage going into the 6th inning.

The Sidewinders would try to rally, as Annette Juarez drilled a 3-run home run to cut the Kofa advantage to 2 runs.

Kofa starting pitcher Sabrina Tumbaga managed to hold off the Sidewinders after that, pitching a complete game in the Lady Kings 8-6 win.

San Luis finishes the season against 2 out or region opponents, while Kofa has a pair of contests against Gila Ridge to end their Spring campaign.
