Holtville softball tops Imperial on late game surge

April 27th, 2021

HOLTVILLE, Calif., (KYMA, KECY) - The upstart Holtville Lady Vikings softball team would continue to turn heads, as they defeat the Imperial Tigers in a 13-3 mercy rule finish in 5 innings.

Lady Vikes starting pitcher Kalli Strahm gave up 8 hits and 3 runs in her 5 innings of work, and has the unblemished record of 7-0 in her starts so far this Spring.

The game was tight early, as the Tigers were down a single run by the bottom of the 4th.

But, Holtville's offense erupted in the next 2 innings, punching in 9 unanswered runs to close the door on the Tigers for good.

With the win, the Lady Vikes remain undefeated at 10-0, with an unblemished Imperial Valley League record of 5-0.

Both teams will face off again this Friday night at Imperial High School.
