YC dominates Tonopah Valley

April 20th, 2021

YUMA, Ariz., (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma Catholic baseball team has high hopes at making a deep run at the 3A state championship.

Currently sitting in 2nd place in the 3A West division behind Odyssey Institute, the Shamrocks are looking to pick up some much needed momentum going into the home stretch of the regular season.

Tuesday afternoon's performance against Tonopah Valley was a good start.

The Rocks were racking in runs early, on their way to a 20-2 blowout victory over the Phoenix.

Austin Priest impressed with his pitching on the afternoon, along with a sound performance with his bat; going 3-3 with 2 RBI's.

Robert Romero was also effective at the plate, going 2-2 with 3 RBI's.

The Rocks improve to 10-3-1 on the season, as they finish the regular season with only 2 more home games out of the 6 remaining on the schedule.

YC will next take on Eastmark on the road this Wednesday afternoon.
