Prep softball: Hawks outscore San Luis, Kofa remains winless
YUMA, Ariz. ( KYMA, KECY) - The Gila Ridge girls' softball team is set to have one of their best seasons yet in team history. The Hawks have most of their key players from last season returning to play, including ace pitcher, Tinley Schmidgall. Hawks also have 2023 Cal Berkeley commit, Jasmine Polk on their team who is looking to make some noise on offense.
Tuesday the Hawks hosted the San Luis Sidewinders in an afternoon match-up that proved to be costly for the Sidewinders. Hawks took the 15-4 win against San Luis, now 3-2 in the season. The Sidewinders host the Hawks on Wednesday at home.
As for the Kofa Lady Kings, their afternoon match-up was not so sweet. Lady Kings hosted Perry, as the Pumas worked hard to keep the Kings scoreless for seven innings. This led the Pumas to win, 3-0. Kings are still struggling to get their first win of the season as they are currently 0-4.
