Criminals rising

Yuma boys basketball clinches 1st win of the season.

Angelo Palone congratulates Jacob Herrera after 3rd quarter score.

Shortly after his retirement from coach Yuma Criminals football, Curt Weber's ambitions for growing the boys basketball program haven't dimmed.

Despite losing the 1st 7 games of the season, the Crims knew a win was inevitable; after playing in a number of close games that didn't go their way.

Against the Southwest Eagles on Monday night, that would all change.

After returning most of their injured players for this game, the Crims established their pace early and it would pay off.

Sophomore Julian Goldsborough led Yuma with 16 points to help Yuma get the 44-37 win.

The 1st season victory for the Crims also got key contributions from Devin Epley (14 points) and Alex Mosqueda (10 points and 15 rebounds).
