Two of Central football's top athletes participate in Spanos All-Star Classic and help North team get the win
SAN DIEGO, Calif.-(KYMA, KSWT, KECY) - Heading into the 30th Alex Spanos All-Star Classic at San Diego Mesa College, the North was known to have the most wins in the series between North and South. Saturday night's contest was no different.
North football coach, Sean Sovacool knew how to use his players' strengths to keep the North in the lead. He played on the strength of all three quarterbacks on his roster, Marshall Eucker (La Costa Canyon), Trevor Jungman (San Pasqual) and Deniro Osuna (Central), to get the 44-7 blowout win on Saturday night against the South. All it took was three quarterbacks, a couple of interceptions and a quick defense.
Central's prep football athletes contributed to the win. Quarterback, Deniro Osuna was 3-of-6 for 23 yards, while Central runningback, Angel Nava-Esparza had a decent amount of defensive plays. In this game, Nava-Esparza played the role of a linebacker and fullback.
The first half was a little slow for the North, as the South would be the first team to score. But, in the second half, it was all North. The North scored 30 points in the final 24 minutes, 20 of those points came in the fourth quarter.
Overall, it was a great experience for the boys in blue. Osuna and Nava-Esparza ended their last high school football game in the 30th Alex Spanos All-Star Classic; a game that only features the best high school football athletes in San Diego county.
