Search for next James Bond narrows down to three

NEW YORK (CBS, KYMA) - The search for the next 007 is right on target five years after Daniel Craig played the iconic role.

The widely-reported short list to fill the shoes and tux of one of the most iconic characters in film history are three British men: Callum Turner, Jack Lowden, and Josh O'Connor, who are all 36 years of age.

Turner, who is married to singer Dua Lipa, and is known for his roles in "Masters of the Air" and "Fantastic Beasts," has the support of the fifth James Bond, Pierce Brosnan, telling Vanity Fair he's "eagerly awaiting" the news adding, "All the men who are on the list now are actors I admire. Callum Turner is someone I've worked with, and he's so strong."

Also in the running is Lowden. Last month, his "Slow Horses" co-star Gary Oldman endorsed Lowden as Bond, saying he had his "fingers crossed" for him.

Then there's O'Connor, who played a young Prince Charles in Netflix' "The Crown." O'Connor, who also starred in "Challengers," described the speculation in an interview as "an incredibly bizarre pinch-me moment."

"There's also been rumors of a fourth mystery finalist, and many fans have been speculating that perhaps this is a actor of color and their identity is being kept secret to protect them from any sort of racist attacks," said Patrick Gomez, Editor-in-Chief at Entertainment Weekly. "Every new Bond brings a new era of the James Bond film franchise."
