Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce rumored to have wedding at Madison Square Garden

NEW YORK (CBS, KYMA) - It's one of the most anticipated pop culture events of the year: Taylor Swift's wedding to NFL star Travis Kelce.

Details of the big day are being kept under wraps, but that hasn't stopped the rumors from swirling as the New York Times is reporting the wedding may happen at the "world's most famous arena," Madison Square Garden (MSG).

After months of speculation, the wedding of superstar Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is rumored to be just days away.

The New York Times reports a permit has been filed by a prominent event planning company to close streets around MSG for an event July 4 weekend, with one city official reportedly telling the paper the venue is planning to host the wedding.

It comes after weeks of speculation, fueled in part by Swift appearing at the New York Knicks game four and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani hinting the event may take place over the upcoming holiday weekend.

"July 4th, America 250, Taylor Swift's wedding. All happening at the same time and we are so excited to welcome the world here," Mayor Mamdani spoke.

Swift has ties to New York with an apartment downtown and has written about the city in several songs.

MSG sits in the center of it all, with no windows and secluded entrances that could provide the pair with privacy.

"If they do do something at Madison Square Garden, there is no better place to bring sports and entertainment together," said Rosemarie Terenzio, who helped plan John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessett's remote 1996 wedding. "I can't imagine, with the amount of people that come in and out of MSG and work at MSG, and talk to each other every single day, and it's New York City, that it wouldn't somehow get out."

Fellow NFL tight end George Kittle told Entertainment Tonight Tuesday that he and his wife were invited to the wedding, but said even they don't know the details.

"[We] have no idea. I actually asked Travis last night and he laughed at me," Kittle shared.

Swifties say they're just as confused.

"Do I buy it? I'm not sure," said a Swift fan. "I think the Garden has definitely been in the news a lot this year, with the Knicks and all that, so it makes sense that they would get married there."

Kittle also said the couple requested absolutely no gifts for the wedding, and the New York Times is also reporting that several Kansas City Chiefs have booked hotel rooms around times square for around July 3.
