Nominees for the 2026 Tony Awards announced

NEW YORK (CBS, KYMA) - The nominees are in for the 2026 Tony Awards Tuesday.

"The Lost Boys" and "Schmigadoon!" led the field, each earning 12 nominations, including Best Musicial.

"The Balusters," "Giant," the Pulitzer Prize-winning show "Liberation," and "Little Bear Ridge Road" are all up for Best Play in a strong year for original theater.

Tony nominee Uzo Aduba and Tony winner Darren Criss appeared on CBS Mornings before unveiling the nominees.

"The first thing I ever had a connection to was at home, in my hometown, watching the Tony Awards and wondering if I could do that someday," Aduba expressed.

"This is a big deal for people tuning in that aren't in New York City and not only just locally and nationally...it's international...people see this on the internet later and it's a big deal for the theater community at large," Criss added.

Singer Pink is hosting the 79th Annual Tony Awards, taking place Sunday, June 7, 2026, at 5 p.m. Pacific on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
