DC Comics celebrates Superman Day

(CBS, KYMA) - Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Comics invited fans around the world to celebrate Superman Day Saturday.

According to a press release, this is to celebrate the anniversary of Superman's debut.

DC Comics says fans can "participate anywhere in the world through offerings," which includes experiences, products, new comic books, digital content, marathons and "DC Comics, DC Studios, Warner Bros. Animation, HBO Max, and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences."

DC Comics says the event encourages fans to wear the iconic S-Shield and celebrate the Man of Steel "as a symbol of strength, heroism and hope."

This year's celebration extends to Supergirl, who is known as Kara Zor-El and is Superman's cousin, ahead of DC Studios' upcoming film, "Supergirl," starring Milly Alcock as Supergirl and Jason Momoa as Lobo.

"Supergirl" premieres in theaters on June 26.
