Brush fire broke out in Calexico

CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - A brush fire broke out near a neighborhood in Calexico this afternoon.

The Calexico Fire Department (CFD) received the call around 2:40 p.m.

It happened behind the Hearthstone homes area near Wal-Mart and the All-American Canal. 

It was reported that the fire did not affect any homes and no one was injured.

According to the CFD, the flames were wind driven and appeared to be pushing toward Highway 111. 

The cause is unknown and still under investigation.

Calexico Fire says it took about two hours to put out and the Imperial County and Holtville Fire Department also assisted in fighting the fire.
