The search for a missing Gulfstream jet air ambulance en route from Bermuda continues

BOSTON (NBC, KYMA) - The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a missing air ambulance with six people on board that disappeared en route from Bermuda to Boston.

The search is underway off the coast of nantucket for the Gulfstream g-100 jet that lost contact with air traffic controllers early Saturday.

The latitude air ambulance jet took off from Bermuda en route to Boston Logan airport and air traffic control tower audio obtained by NBC News appears to indicate that controllers asked another plane to attempt contact with the jet.

There is no word on whether that attempt was successful.

The audio also indicates that controllers asked the plane's pilots it they were coming in blind.

The Gulfstream was carrying out a medical evacuation from Bermuda, a British territory in the north Atlantic about 650 miles off the coast of North Carolina.
