Bomb threat in Mississippi causes evacuations at the coroner’s office and health department

JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (NBC, KYMA) - A bomb threat scare this morning led to the evacuation of some government offices in Jackson County.

Threats were made towards the Jackson County Health Department headquarters in Pascagoula, as well as the Jackson County Coroner's Office.

Jackson County Coroner Bruce Lynd Jr says the threats stemmed from a call about a bomb under a vehicle near the offices around 10:30.

Law enforcement searched and cleared the buildings and the area, and no actual bomb or threat was found.

Police are now investigating who sent in the threat, and why it was sent.
