White House North Portico tarp removed

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NBC, KYMA) - The printed tarp covering the White House's North Portico for renovations has been removed.

Now all that's visible around the iconic columns of the White House is the scaffolding.

The scaffolding was set up at the end of June and the tarp was placed on July 9.

Officials told NBC news, crews were doing standard restoration work including to repair the stone around the columns.

And complete security upgrades to the front of the building.

The project is expected to finish around mid-September.
