U.S. envoy visits Russia and Ukraine

KYIV, Russia (NBC, KYMA) - An American delegation is meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky Sunday as Washington seeks to revive stalled peace efforts between the country and Russia.

The trip to Kyiv marks what is believed to be special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner's first public visit to Ukraine.

It comes one day after they sat down with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow to discuss plans toward ending the war.

The pair has visited the city several times, most recently holding talks with Putin at the Kremlin in January.

So far there are have been no announcements of a breakthrough, except a statement from Putin agreeing to no direct Russian strikes in Kyiv for the next 72 hours.

The Russian President also did not publicly signal any movement from his previous steep demands, which seek major concessions from Ukraine, including territory, a demand Ukraine has refused.
