FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: Tracking EXTENDED extreme heat warning until next Friday

A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day has been EXTENDED until 8 pm next Friday due to the ongoing heat through the weekend and all of next week. Remember to practice heat safety.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - An Extreme Heat Warning is EXTENDED until 8 p.m. NEXT FRIDAY for the Desert Southwest due to dangerously hot conditions. The humidity will also continue through the week.

Highs will be between 106-117 degrees, and overnight lows between 84-93 degrees. With the heat and higher humidity for the weekend, heat index levels will also be high and our "feels like temperatures" will be between 110-120 degrees.

This extreme heat warning is also in effect due to consistent heat for the next several days and no relief even at night.

We have a ridge of high pressure in the Desert Southwest keeping the Desert Southwest hot and bringing in major heat risk through the weekend.

Tracking slightly drier conditions for the weekend, but there are still slight chances for isolated storms being possible this weekend, with higher chances moving back in Sunday-Monday.

I am also EXTENDING our Weather Authority First Alert Action Days through NEXT FRIDAY due to long lasting heat and hotter temperatures in the days ahead. Stay cool and hydrated!
