FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: Tracking extended heat until 8 pm tonight

Tracking extended heat to start off the week, but thankfully, I am tracking noticeably cooler temperatures this week. Monsoonal moisture will also keep the humid conditions with higher rain and storm chances in the days ahead.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - An Extreme Heat Warning is still in effect and has been EXTENDED yet again until 8 p.m. TONIGHT for parts of the Desert Southwest due to dangerously hot and humid conditions.

Highs will be between 107-112 degrees, and overnight lows between 80-93 degrees. With the heat and higher humidity, heat index levels will also be high. Our "feels like temperatures" will be between 110-120 degrees.

It is going to be a hot and humid night. Today is also National S'mores Day! It may be too hot to make S’mores outdoors, but you can always make them inside and enjoy this sweet treat.

The humidity is going to stay elevated this week, with dew points staying in the 60s. It's going to stay muggy and continue feeling uncomfortable outside.

Tracking deeper moisture to provide a better opportunity for more widespread showers and thunderstorm activity during the first half of this week. This will also allow noticeably cooler temperatures.

Rain and storm chances will favor further east, but outflow boundaries could bring in heavy rain and flooding potential.
