Tracking warming temperatures and more clouds as we head into the 4th of July weekend

Weather Authority/ KYMA

As we get ready to head into the holiday weekend, I am tracking more clouds and warmer temperatures, but it will be a seasonable 4th of July. We are in for summer heat returning early next week.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Happy Friday! Today is a little warmer, as we are trending in the low 100s. But we are still trending slightly cooler than normal.

Going into our evening and looking at our futuretrack hour-by-hour, temperatures will be trending warmer than what we felt all week, but it will still be pleasant to be outdoors.

If you are starting your holiday weekend it will be nice to do some grilling and going for an evening swim.

An Air Quality Alert is in effect for parts of Imperial County until 8 pm Friday due to higher ozone levels causing harmful pollution.

Still tracking a breezy evening for Imperial County as winds will be coming from the west with gusts up to 25 MPH. Stronger winds will be favoring further west.

I am tracking lighter winds for tomorrow, but we could still be a little breezy with gusts 15-20 MPH into Saturday. Just be careful with the fireworks.

Clouds will increase for the next few days bringing in cloudy skies by the 4th of July. On our futuretrack hour-by-hour, some moisture will be in those clouds, but rain may not even make it to the ground.

However, a sprinkle cannot be ruled out Saturday into Sunday.

For the 4th of July weekend, we are in for beautiful weather. I am tracking warmer temperatures and cloudier skies. Even though it will be warming up, it will be seasonable for early July.

With the warm and dry conditions and it being a holiday, please remember firework safety. Let's make sure we don't spark any unnecessary fireworks this weekend and use fireworks with precaution.

It will be a fantastic holiday weekend, but temperatures are going to heat up come early next week.

Prepare for summer heat on the way!
