Insider Blog: June 2026 Weather Recap

June was an overall warm month with more days ABOVE normal. The majority of the month was dry, but we did get some light rain. Take a look at our weather recap and stats for the month of June.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - It was a warm month overall for the month of June. The warmest day recorded for June was 111 degrees on Sunday, June 14th.
No high records were met or broken, but Yuma did have some record warm low temperatures: 81 degrees on June 12th, 84 degrees on June 15th, and 83 degrees on June 17th.
Pretty much the entire month, we had more days above-normal than we did below-normal or average. But we did have some days when we were cooler than normal. Take a look.

Monsoon season kicked off this month, but for the month of June, we did have a few rain events, but it wasn't enough for Yuma to receive measurable rain.
For the month of June, we accumulated T (TRACE), and our average for June is 0.01", which leaves us below -0.01" for the month.
Now, this month isn't ranked the wettest, but it's ranked 149 in terms of being the driest. The wettest recorded for June is 0.62" in 1912.

Now, let's look at where Yuma stands with our yearly rain total. Since the start of the year, so far for 2026, Yuma has accumulated 0.03", which is a very small amount, but it is something.
Comparing it with our 2026 yearly average, we actually should be at 1.37", which is well below normal.
However, with what Yuma has accumulated so far for 2026 and comparing it to our total around this same time back in 2025, we were actually at 0.10" in 2025. We are also behind for the year.
Now that monsoon season is here, let's hope it will be a wet season, so we can catch up to our yearly rain total for the year.

However, with the lack of rain and warm weather we had this month, it actually brought no significant change to our drought conditions, but we are still trending the same with dry and moderate conditions.
Now, Yuma and La Paz Counties are having 100% dry drought conditions, and even a chunk is under the moderate category. Yuma County also has a severe drought at the tip of the county toward the east.
Even Imperial County is seeing dry drought conditions as well.

Here are the overall June 2026 summary stats. Yuma had above-normal temperatures. El Centro had its 5th warmest June on record. No measurable rain was recorded for either county.
