YUMA,Ariz.(KYMA)-Today, a Yuma man who murdered a man inside a home was sentenced to more than 70 years behind bars.

40-year-old Nicholas Harder was sentenced to 71 years in prison. I spoke to his father, who says he believes the sentence was fair.

Jerry Harder, the defendant’s father, said, “I believe Judge Nelson was correct in his assessment and I truly believe justice was served.”

Harder had the chance to speak to the victim’s family in court before receiving his sentence.

Nicholas Harder said, “I would like to sincerely apologize for everything that happened and my part in everything. It was the worst day of my life.”

Harder was found guilty of second-degree murder and four counts of aggravated assault after murdering 57-year-old Anthony Jordinelli back in 2023.

Harder’s father said he is confident with the justice system.

Jerry Harder said, “I have more faith in the justice system today than I ever have.”

He also shared his feelings toward the victim’s family.

“My heart also goes out to the deceased family but also to my family because it affects both sides,” Jerry Harder said.

Harder’s consecutive sentence will start immediately. He received 25 years for murder, along with two 15-year and two eight-year sentences for the aggravated assault charges. He is getting credit for the three years he spent in jail waiting for trial.

After three long years, justice has finally been served.
