YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA-TV)-  Happy Cinco De Mayo! Daytime highs are well below average for today as highs are in the upper 70s. Nice and cool day to celebrate Cinco De Mayo.

Today is also Taco Tuesday! If you are going out for dinner, temperatures will be nice in the hours ahead. You might want a light sweater if you are stepping out tonight.

It will be pretty breezy and windy for the rest of the night as we will have strong westerly winds with gusts 20-30 MPH. Stronger winds and dust are expected in Imperial County.

Thankfully, we are in for much lighter winds going into the middle of the week.

As this lower-pressure system is on its way out, this will allow a strong ridge of high pressure to build into the Desert Southwest in the days ahead. Get ready for dry, calm, and hot weather on the way.

For the remainder of the week, we will have lighter winds and lots of sunshine. But temperatures are going to continue to rise. Get ready for a toasty Mother’s Day weekend as highs will be in the low 100s.

Tracking even hotter temperatures early next week. Take a look.

LOOKING AHEAD: This next warm-up will be sticking around for a while as temperatures will be trending well above-average from May 10 to May 14th.
