Tracking 90s for Friday with more winds and cooler this weekend

Weather Authority/ KYMA

Temperatures will warm-up to the 90s by Friday, but the next weather system will move in this weekend, cooling down our temperatures and bringing back gustier winds.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA-TV)- Happy Thursday! It's a seasonable and cloudy day. Tracking dry conditions and light winds.

For the evening, the pleasant weather will continue. Get outside, hang out on the patio, or go for a walk. It will be a wonderful evening.

DROUGHT UPDATE: It has been an overall very dry few months here in the Desert Southwest. We are still continuing to see slight changes to our drought conditions.

As of this week, 100% of Yuma County is still under drought conditions. And 20% of the county is moderate, now 1% is experiencing severe drought.

For Imperial County, only 52% of the county is under dry drought conditions, and about 48% has no drought.

Temperatures will quickly warm into the 90s for Friday, but then our next lower pressure system toward the north will be moving in this weekend, cooling down our temperatures again, but also bringing more winds.

Winds will become a little breezier on Friday evening, especially toward the west. This will set us up for the stronger winds we are in store for this coming weekend.

For Saturday, winds will pick up, bringing widespread winds to the Desert Southwest. We will have more westerly winds with gusts of 25-35 MPH.

The strongest round of winds will be during the evening hours. Blowing dust is also expected.

We have a quick warm-up on Friday, but come the weekend will drop back into the 80s. We will also have more clouds for Saturday, but we expect to stay nice and dry.

However, the cooler temperatures we will have, we do have gustier winds Saturday and Sunday.

Nice temperatures will continue into early next week with calmer winds.
