FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: Tracking showers to ring in the New Year

A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is in effect because we have wet weather here through New Year's day across the Desert Southwest.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA-TV)- A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is in effect through the morning hours for New Year's Day because of the wet weather.

Even through this round of showers are looking to be light, it still will be enough bring some travel concerns and wet roads for your New Year's plans.

We could still see light showers through tonight and into New Year's day.

And we are just hours away from New Year's! If you have any New Year's Eve plans, it will be chilly and wet. Make sure to dress warm. By tomorrow morning, it will be even colder with overnight lows in the low and upper 50s.

Heading into 2026, there will still be opportunities to see more light and moderate showers on and off on Thursday as this lower pressure system hangs off toward the west bringing in moisture.

Between Wednesday and through Thursday rain totals are looking about a tenth of an inch or less for most parts of the Desert Southwest.

A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day will stay in effect through the morning hours for New Year's Day.

Tracking cool and cloudy conditions sticking around for the next several days with additional rain chances being possible early next week.
