FIRST ALERT: Tracking showers for New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day

We have a round of showers that is expected to bring wet weather for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day to the Desert Southwest.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA-TV)- We have another wet weather pattern moving in by the middle of the week to bring the Desert Southwest more rain.

Even through this round of showers are looking to be light, it still will be enough bring some travel concerns and wet roads for your New Year's plans. This is why a A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day will be in effect on New Year's Eve through New year's Day.

Rain chances will continue to climb through the week. The highest and wettest day of the week is looking to be on New Year’s Day.

On our futuretrack, we can start to see light showers on New Year’s Eve by the afternoon hours.

Tracking more showers to continue into New Year's Day. We could see scattered light and moderate showers on and off throughout the day.

Right now, weather modules are reading a tenth of an inch or less for some parts of the Desert Southwest. Some areas could actually get rain totals up to a quarter of inch even a little bit more.

We will have slightly cooler, but seasonable temperatures through Thursday. First Alert Action Day will be in effect for New Year's Eve and New Yea because of the wet weather.
